The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Gift Sialubalo, yesterday handed over a cheque for over K2.4 million in Constituency Development Fund (CDF) grants to 62 cooperatives and clubs in Chitambo District during a ceremony under the 2025 CDF disbursement.

The Minister also met with Chief Chitambo and inspected key CDF-funded projects, including the construction of the Chief’s house, the Chalilo Police Post, and facilities at Chalilo Market, Mwimbula School, and Mulembo School and staff house.

Chitambo achieved a performance score of 75% as the Honourable Minister continues to assign scores by respective districts on CDF. While this score is commendable, the Chief Secretary emphasized that recent successes can highlight weaknesses. He noted that more effort is needed to reach the 85% target across all respects and thanked Team Chitambo for their dedication.

Accompanying the Minister were Provincial Local Government Officer Mr. Clint Susiku, Chitambo District Commissioner Mr. Topson Kunda, Council Chairperson Mr. Brian Mwelwa, Council Secretary Mr. Mwiche I. Mudala, and other government officials.
