SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR OF CLEAN AUDIT OPINION QUALIFIES CHITAMBO FOR $2.1M ZDSP GRANT.

In a testament to their steadfast commitment to financial integrity, Chitambo Town Council proudly announced their second consecutive year of securing an unqualified audit opinion for the fiscal years 2021 and 2022. This endorsement underscores their exemplary adherence to the Public Finance Management Act, highlighting the prudent management of finances.

The achievement came to light during the visit of independent verification agents (IVA) from the Devolution Support Programme (DSP) funded by the world bank. Their presence was prompted by Chitambo Town Council’s successful qualification for the infrastructure grant designated for town councils to be disbursed over a 5year period. Mrs. Winnie Musonda-Ndaiseka, leading the delegation, and accompanied by Mr. Moses Mwale conducted an independent review of the Auditor General’s findings and other relevant documents.

Expressing her admiration, Mrs. Musonda-Ndaiseka commended the Local Authority for its organized presentation of the financial report. She remarked, “I am not surprised at all that, for a second year running, you obtained an unqualified opinion. This speaks to the professional conduct of this management, and how we wish other councils can emulate what we have found here. Chitambo is a relatively small council, but to see such a high level of prudence and organizational best practice is one that deserves a five-star rating.”

In his remarks, Council Secretary Mr. Mwiche Mudala expressed his gratitude to the entire team for their outstanding effort. He acknowledged the achievement while humbly stating, “There is still room for improvement as we aim to attain even higher heights.”

This commitment to continuous enhancement reflects Chitambo Town Council’s dedication to maintaining and surpassing their standards in financial management.
